About
Melanie Kreiss PA-C, received her bachelors of science at UC Davis in Exercise Biology. At that time, she volunteered in all different settings from physical therapy to cardiology. After graduating from UC Davis in 2013, she gained healthcare experience working as an EMT in Oakland California and scribed in the Stanford ER.
Melanie moved to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, where she received her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies from Chatham University. During that time, she enjoyed traveling across the country for her clinical rotations, working in a huge variety of settings from rural Montana, central Pennsylvania, an Arizona border town, suburban Michigan, and the big city of Pittsburgh.
After completing her Masters, she moved back to California, and worked in psychiatry in Redding, where she decided to make the switch to pain medicine. She felt that she could relate better with her patients due to experiencing chronic pain herself from an injury during her time as an EMT. She met a PA with expertise in spine surgery and pain management, who mentored her in this specialty. With this knowledge she managed a satellite clinic, as the sole in-office provider, and grew a passion for reducing patients’ pain and medication reliance with minimally invasive procedures.
Melanie’s experience in psychiatry, and varied exposure geographically, allows her to be understanding of people from all walks of life and with all different experiences. Her own experience with chronic pain motivates her to help her patients find the best possible solutions for their pain.
Melanie now lives in Sacramento and loves the area. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and taking advantage of all the outdoor opportunities nearby, including paddle boarding, hiking, camping, and skiing.
